About spacebar testing
A spacebar test checks how many times you can press the space key in a chosen amount of time. The rate is usually shown as presses per second, which makes it similar to CPS, but for a keyboard key instead of a mouse button.
This kind of test depends a lot on the keyboard. Some keys feel soft and quick, while others feel heavy or deep. Laptop keyboards, mechanical keyboards, and office keyboards can give very different results even for the same person.
Your thumb position also matters. Some people use one thumb, some switch between thumbs, and some press the edge of the bar instead of the center. Small movement changes can make the rhythm faster or slower.
Longer tests are harder because the thumb starts to tire out. A 5 second burst shows speed, but a 1 minute or 10 minute test shows endurance and how well you can keep a steady rhythm.
Even though it is a simple tool, it is a fun way to compare keyboards, test key responsiveness, or just see how long your hand can keep a fast pattern going.
